In 2015, East Anglia recorded the highest number of cases relating to portholes. With a 4,547 score, it came in third across the Entire UK with a 31% upsurge in these faults. The South East was the most devastating. It recorded a 62% upsurge that resulted in 2,686 occurrences. The North East also recorded 30% with occurrences up to 3,783 which brought it nearly to a third place.
In all these porthole occurrence, the Top Auto Recovery team forecasts a 24% surge year after year. This upsurge will drastically increase the call rate of vehicles that have been damaged by portholes.
A count down to the top 5 most damaged vehicles took place on National Pothole Day and was finalized by Scotland which listed a 27% (2,537) call out rate. South wales also recorded 19% (3,491).
Another report was published to commemorate the National Pothole Day. The report showed that in 2015, Top Auto Recovery reacted to more than 5000 cases that had to do with slanted car wheels, damaged shock absorbers, and wrecked suspension parts. This figure is an addition to what was published in 2014. In 2014 Top Auto Recovery Team handled 20,400 of these jobs. In 2015 it grew to about 25,000. Damaged suspension springs accounted for 42% upsurge from 13,101 back in 2014. In 2015 it was 18,417. Damaged wishbones and vehicle sub-frames each accounted for 10% rise.
In a statement made by a member of the Top Auto Recovery Team, he said that “In 2015, we responded to more break downs that resulted from dangerous potholes than what we had the year before. The worst part was that we never recorded any cold winter weather. The more you think about this the more frightening it gets”.
The Top Auto Recovery Team discovered that the top concern for drivers is the bad local roads that crisscrosses the whole of UK. Our team carried out a survey with over 1,540 motorist partaking in the exercise. In this survey 50% of claimed that the roads conditions have degraded rapidly in the past 12 months in their respective place of residence. 105 said they it had improved. 20% of them said that bad roads is in the top 4 spot of the things they worry about. 10% said they it is at the top of their list of things they worry about. The rest said that for them there has been no change at all.
The Chancellor who made a pledge of £6bn further made available more funds. From the look of things, this will not be sufficient. However we believe that we’ll see a decline in the number of break downs that result from portholes.
Last year alone, in an attempt to do much road repairs as possible, the local authorities increased their budget. However there is still much to do especially when cold weather conditions are the major cause of potholes. We can only make positive progress when there are more than enough preventative road surface maintenance in place to fight against potholes that appear at the first sign of a bad weather.
To do our own part, we are steadily working with concerned companies, websites and individuals to reduce the agony and anguish motorists endure which is caused by poor roads.
